Hello there! This month, fellow DC blogger Sonja Bradfield of Ginger and Toasted Sesame shares one of her amazing sweet & savory recipes for a bite-size treat that is bound to make your mouth-water.

In my family the holidays are a time to enjoy food the fullest extent. It’s an exciting time for us, and a great way to spend time together cooking in the kitchen. During Thanksgiving there’s quite a mad scramble to get everything ready, and we always need something to snack on to power us through.

Besides the standard cheese board, I like a nice warm appetizer that is easy to assemble and eat. These prosciutto wrapped pecan stuffed dates are a perfect combination of salty and sweet in one easy to eat bite.

 Ingredients:

  • 4oz sliced prosciutto (about 8 slices), cut in half lengthwise
  • 16 whole pecan halves
  • 16 dried medjool dates (about 8 oz)
  • toothpicks

Directions:

Heat the oven to 450 degrees.
Slice a slit along the side of a date and remove the pit.
Stuff a pecan half into the date and press the date closed.
Wrap the date with a piece of prosciutto and secure with a toothpick.
Repeat until all the dates are stuffed and wrapped.
Baked for 15 minutes until browned and crispy.
